Meet Longevity Nexum Registered Kinesiologist, Mel!

From a very young age, Mel has always  had a curious personality with the drive to try any sport or activity imaginable. This emerged into a deep passion for all sports, physical activity of any kind and wellbeing. She grew up in Lafontaine and was involved in all sports imaginable. She played competitive volleyball for 6 years, ran on multiple cross-country teams, rowed for the Georgian Bay Rowing club and continues to play ball hockey all year long. As her love for being active continued flourish, she pursued an education in health and fitness.

Mel is an Exercise Physiologist and Registered Kinesiologist who obtained a 4 year Bachelor’s degree in Physical and Health Education at Nipissing University. Throughout her studies, her passion for health and wellness continued to evolve as she learned the importance of movement for long term health and wanted to help as many people possible live the longest, healthiest and happiest life. She practiced what she preached and participated on the cross country, volleyball and rowing varsity teams while at Nippising.

This guided her to complete a post graduate in Exercise Science for Health and Performance at Niagara College. Mel’s career began while being immersed into Military culture as a Fitness Instructor. Her experience there lead her to take a dive women’s health where she then began to recognize a greater need for women focused resources regarding health and physical fitness. This led her to obtain her Pre and Post Natal Coaching Certificate.

With a deep-rooted desire to help change the lives of many people struggling with chronic disease or injury through evidence-based individualized exercise prescription, Mel continues to help clients achieve happiness and health at Longevity Nexum.

When she isn’t at work or battling out on the ball hockey rink, you’ll find Mel on a run with her 3 year old Border Collie Mia, swimming at the cottage with her husband Spencé or lounging at home with her 6 year old rabbit, Sally.
