“Providing a New Meaning of Movement for Life”
Our team at Longevity Nexum, downtown Barrie, has created a new vision statement. We wanted something that would embody our morals, beliefs, and attitude. We needed something to encompass our outstanding “WHY” we do what we do. Our team of Registered Kinesiologists and Exercise Physiologists want to provide Canadians with a new meaning of movement that takes their whole health into consideration. We are expanding the health-span of Canadians to match their lifespan. Our team at Longevity Nexum is Providing a New Meaning of Movement for Life.
What does this mean to Chelsey?
It was surprisingly hard to sit down and think of one statement that encompasses everything that we do here. We wanted to have something that was short and sweet, but that showed just how serious we are with what we do. Something that showed our passion for helping people near and far, whatever their goals and circumstances may be.
Right off the bat we started jotting down what comes into our mind when we think of what we do. Different things came to mind like health span vs. lifespan, personalized exercise, feeling strong and capable, permanent solution, prevention, etc. It seemed as though there weren’t enough words to describe what it is that we do here.
Then it hit.
The things that we do here at Longevity Nexum are unlike anywhere else in Ontario, let alone Canada. We pride ourselves in the passion that is shared between each of our team members. Longevity Nexum is here to create a new way for people to continue to do the things they want to do, for life.
Yes, our sessions at Longevity Nexum will get you stronger, more stable, decrease your pain and make you feel better. But, the sessions will keep you moving for as long as possible. You will be the parents who have the energy, the grandparents to actively play with your grandkids, taking pride in being the oldest person playing the sport. Your sessions at Longevity Nexum will keep you moving for as long as possible because …
We provide a new meaning of movement for life.
What does this mean to Mel?
Every company small or large will always establish three key components that they construct their entire business around: Vision, Mission and Values. These three statements are usually the foundation and core of a business. At Longevity Nexum, it is our entire essence to ensure that these three components are what drives us to make a difference in healthcare.
We have been established for almost 2 years and decided to sit down and recreate a new vision. The aim was to foster a collective sense of contribution among every team member, uniting us in our shared endeavour to shape the company we aspire to build.
Our neighbours at Longevity Exercise Physiology in Australia had completed the same exercise and revamped their vision: “Giving the gift of Longevity”. Although different parts of the world, we are all trying to accomplish the same thing – Help people.
The first step of this exercise was to create a list of words and sentences that describe what we do as Kinesiologists at Longevity Nexum:
- increase health span
- More than just personal trainers
- Stronger, healthier, fitter for 5..10..20 years down the road
- Reduce mortality
- Chronic disease management
- Personalized exercise prescription
- Reduce pain
- Increase mobility long-term
- Improve cardiovascular health
- Create relationships
- Community based
- Team oriented
- Collaborative
The best way to describe what we do is to help people understand the “why” behind every goal, to understand why it’s important to be strong or have good cardiovascular fitness which lead us to create the statement “Providing a new meaning of movement for life”. To me, this means that we have the ability to create positive behaviour change in many individuals world wide to live longer, healthier and happier lives. By exercising regularly for someones individual health, means having the ability to be present for all loved ones. It means being able to join in on the family nature walk at Thanksgiving dinner. It’s having the ability to hold your first grandchild pain free and not being worried of falling or dropping them. It will give you the freedom of not relying on medication to manage your disease or pain…. The list goes on.
So when I get asked the question of what I do for work or what does my work mean to me, it always comes down to helping people and providing a new meaning of movement for life.
