Let’s be honest, you know that physical activity is important. We all have been around long enough to hear the numerous beneficial effects that regular exercise has on each person. And yet, most people in Canada are still not exercising.

I have become more aware of the joking conversations that exercise is surrounded with. It is as if everyone knows they should be exercising regularly and will make jokes about how they don’t have the time, the motivation or the desire to start exercising. Because who wants to do that? The truth of the matter is, your health is not a joke.

And these conversations aren’t just happening between friends or family, even healthcare providers will use a joking manner when talking about regular physical activity towards their patients or clients.

These jokes will come to a hard stop when your health is on the line.

What does 10 years down the line look like for your health?

Have you ever thought about what 10 years down looks like for you? I’m not talking dream life, home situation, relationship, etc.  What does 10 years down the line look like for your health?

Will you be able to move around independently? Will you be able to walk the golf course? Will you be able to play with your kids? If you continue doing the things you are doing or not doing right now, how does that end up?

Maybe you’re a regular at the gym but don’t know what you are training towards. You could be a new parent that is going through the mental gymnastics of realizing your family’s health and safety are your number one priority. Or, maybe you are in your 40’s, 50’s or 60’s where no major health concerns have risen so you feel as though you are in the clear.

Regardless of where you are in life, yourhealth may not be your number one priority – and most likely it isn’t. But I can assure you that there is someone in your life that has a deep care for you as a person and wishes that you stay healthy for as long as possible. There is someone who wants you to be around for as LONG as possible.

Now is the time to make the move.

The First Step is the Hardest, but Why Wait?

So, my question is – why wait?

The best time to start exercising was yesterday. The second-best option is to start today.

Don’t get me wrong, I understand that it takes more than just starting. There is a lot of information out there in the exercise world that you need to filter through. Maybe you have health conditions and don’t necessarily know how to safely exercise with those in mind? Maybe no one has told you… or maybe you have never asked?
