• Kelly Knabenschuh

    Registered Kinesiologist

    Bio

Kelly was born and raised in Niagara, Ontario. She was a competitive basketball and soccer player growing up, and started resistance training at the age of 12 when she joined the YMCA. Most of her weekends consisted of playing in basketball tournaments both in Canada and the United States. The team she played for saw a personal trainer 1-2x a week and she loved it! This passion for sports and training led her to complete her degree in Kinesiology at Brock University. During her undergrad she had the opportunity to work with the men’s volleyball team, children, older adults, and individuals recovering from a stroke or spinal cord injury. She moved to Barrie in 2021, and had the opportunity to work for a commercial gym as a Fitness Manager. For the past 3 years Kelly has led and educated a team of personal trainers. During this time Kelly has done various courses to enhance her knowledge in the following areas: fascial stretch therapy, mobility and low back pain. In particular she wanted to help those with chronic low back pain, as this was a common concern amongst majority of the individuals she consulted with. She will teach you various tips to incorporate into your activities of daily living to improve your back health. Kelly’s mission is to help you on your journey to an improved quality of life and that starts with addressing your movement patterns, as well as your nutrition, sleep and stress management!

  • Mitchell Hooper

    Accredited Exercise Physiologist

    Bio

Mitchell Hooper is from Barrie, Ontario and played every sport imaginable growing up. After finishing with playing football at the University of Guelph, he wanted to take his passion for sports and carry that into a career in strength and conditioning. After landing a dream job with a professional basketball team as the head strength and conditioning coach, he began to question if there was a larger impact that he could make.

Throughout university and while evaluating the best career path, Mitchell continued pursuing different athletic pursuits which saw him step on a bodybuilding stage, golf at the provincial championships (briefly working under Sean Foley, Tiger Woods coach in his prime) and run 3 marathons (PB of 3:24).

After several family members were diagnosed with chronic illnesses from coronary artery disease leading to heart attacks, to cancer, brain tumors, seizures and diabetes, he knew that working with people with chronic conditions would be pivotal in his career moving forward. Despite all these diagnoses and advice to improve diet and exercise, there was nowhere for them to go to exercise safely.

Mitchell sought out the #1 exercise physiology program in the world to undertake his masters in exercise physiology, which took him to the University of Sydney. After 4 years of study and work, he made his dream a reality by teaming up with his employer in Australia, Jarrat Wood (the founder of Longevity) to bring an exercise physiology/kinesiology clinic to his hometown.

During this time, Mitchell continued various athletic endeavours and settled on strength sports. Things seem to have gone fairly well, as he now has a budding professional strongman career:

    • 8th place Worlds Strongest Man 2022
    • 2nd place Giants Live Strongman Classic 2022
    • 2nd place World Deadlift Championships 2022
    • 2nd place Giants Live World Open 2022
    • 3rd place Shaw Classic 2022
    • 1st place Arnold UK Strongman Championship 2022
    • 1st place Giants Live World Tour Finals 2022
    • 3rd Place Rogue Invitational 2022
While he has always been active with different sports, his real endeavour is to put himself through everything that might be asked of you - whether that is leaving your comfort zone in resistance training, aerobic training, or committing to a long fitness journey to take yourself to a whole new version of you, he has been there. Nothing says ready for a big challenge like finishing a marathon and setting the goal of getting to the Worlds Strongest Man only a few years later.
