In a world where fitness often feels overwhelming, unrealistic, or impossible to keep up with, many people are left wondering: “How do I make exercise actually fit into my life?” That question is exactly why I became a kinesiologist. Because exercise shouldn’t feel like another pressure — it should feel like a tool that helps you live your life better. This is the foundation of exercise for real life.

🏡 Where It Started
I grew up in the small town of Tiny, where movement was just part of everyday life. Sports, being active, and pushing my body were things I naturally gravitated toward.
But as I got older, I started to notice something important.
Not everyone experienced movement the same way.
Some people struggled with pain. Others didn’t feel confident in their bodies. Many felt like exercise wasn’t “for them” — especially if they didn’t fit the typical fitness image.
That’s when my perspective began to shift.
I realized that movement isn’t just about performance — it’s about participation in life.
It’s about being able to:
- Play with your kids without pain
- Keep up with your job
- Stay active as you age
- Feel confident in your body
I became a kinesiologist because I wanted to help people use exercise for real life, not just for the gym.
🚀 Learning to Adapt Through Experience
My path has never been a straight line, and that’s shaped the way I coach today.
I was the first in my family to pursue post-secondary education, stepping into something completely new. From there, I continued to put myself in challenging environments that required me to grow quickly.
My experiences include:
- Serving with the Coast Guard in Nova Scotia
- Volunteering as a firefighter
- Deploying overseas to Latvia with the military
These roles taught me how to:
- Stay calm under pressure
- Adapt quickly
- Work with people from all backgrounds
- Lead with empathy
Those same skills now carry into how I support my clients — meeting them where they are and helping them move forward with confidence.
👶 Why My Approach to Exercise Changed
Becoming a mom was one of the most important turning points in my life.
Like many parents, I experienced:
- Exhaustion
- Limited time
- Changing priorities
- Physical and mental fatigue
And suddenly, the idea of long, intense workouts didn’t always make sense.
That’s when I realized something many people feel but don’t always say:
Exercise often doesn’t match real life.
It can feel like something you have to force into your schedule, rather than something that supports it.
That’s why I believe in exercise for real life — an approach that works with your life, not against it.
💪 Why Kinesiology Matters
As a Registered Kinesiologist and Pre- and Postnatal Coach, my role is not just to prescribe exercise — it’s to understand how your body functions and how movement fits into your life.
Kinesiology allows me to bridge the gap between:
- Rehabilitation and fitness
- Pain and performance
- Where you are and where you want to be
I became a kinesiologist because I wanted to help people:
- Move without pain
- Build strength safely
- Feel confident in their bodies
- Stay active through EVERY stage of life
Because exercise for real life isn’t about doing more — it’s about doing what matters.
👨👩👧 Strength for Life, Not Just the Gym
With two sets of grandparents actively involved in my child’s life, I’ve seen how important it is to stay strong and independent as we age.
Movement isn’t just about today — it’s about the future.
It’s about being able to:
- Stay independent
- Prevent injury
- Keep doing the things you love
- Be present for your family
That’s why I’m especially passionate about helping adults and older adults build strength that supports their everyday lives and decrease the onset of chronic illness.
Because exercise for real life evolves with you.
🔄 Real Results That Matter
Over time, I’ve had the opportunity to help people:
- Reduce pain and stiffness through movement, not just medication
- Build strength to keep up with their kids and grandkids
- Recover from injuries and regain confidence
- Navigate pregnancy, postpartum, and aging without feeling limited
- Manage and decrease severity of chronic illness through exercise
- Have life experiences they never thought possible
- Bring families together though movement, health and success
These aren’t just fitness goals — they’re life goals.
And they’re all possible with the right approach.
🌟 There Is No Perfect Time
One of the most common things I hear is:
“I’m tool old to do exercise…” “Exercise won’t help me, I already have pain”
But the truth is, there is no perfect time.
There is only the decision to start — and to start in a way that works for your life.
That’s what exercise for real life is all about.
🤝 Let’s Make Movement Work for You
If you’ve ever felt like:
- Exercise doesn’t fit your schedule
- You don’t know where to start
- Pain or injury is holding you back
- You need something more personalized
You’re not alone.
And you don’t have to figure it out on your own.
Because the right kind of exercise doesn’t take away from your life — it helps you show up for it.
That’s the goal of exercise for real life.
