When You’re Just Feeling “Off”
Lately, I’ve been feeling unmotivated — and honestly, it’s been tough. I’ve had one of those weeks where I feel extra tired, unfocused, and not nearly as productive as I’d like to be. What’s interesting is that this feeling isn’t just mine. It’s been a big topic of conversation with my clients at Longevity Nexum, as well as with friends and family. Everyone seems to be experiencing that same dip in energy and drive lately.
As a kinesiologist, I know this is something a lot of people go through — especially this time of year. As the days get shorter and we lose more daylight, it’s completely normal to feel a little off. Our bodies respond to seasonal changes more than we realize. Less sunlight affects our mood, sleep, and energy levels, and sometimes it feels like there’s just a weight we can’t quite put our finger on.
When Everyday Tasks Start to Feel Harder
If you’ve noticed that your regular day-to-day tasks are leaving you more drained than usual, it might be your body’s way of telling you to slow down and check in. Instead of pushing through the fatigue, take a moment to ask yourself: What do I need right now?
It could be more rest, better nutrition, or a mental break — but often, what helps most is movement. Even when it feels counterintuitive, gentle and consistent physical activity can completely shift how you feel.
Exercise: The Best Tool to Reignite Your Energy
One thing I remind both myself and my clients is that exercise is one of the most powerful tools we have to change our lives. It’s not just about physical strength or fitness goals — it’s about improving how we feel day to day.
If you’ve been feeling unmotivated, exercise can help restore your energy, boost your mood, and bring back a sense of control and confidence. Whether you’re struggling with motivation, managing stress, or living with a chronic condition, moving your body — in any way that feels good — is a way to reconnect with yourself.
Start Small and Move with Intention
If motivation feels low, don’t set huge expectations. Start small — go for a walk, do a few stretches, or follow a short workout. You don’t need perfection; you just need progress.
Sometimes, the best way to overcome feeling unmotivated isn’t by pushing harder, but by moving with intention. Each small step you take builds momentum, and before you know it, you start to feel like yourself again.
