First off, congratulations on taking the first step toward a healthier, stronger version of yourself! Starting a fitness journey is a huge accomplishment, especially after years of putting your health aside. It’s time that you make yourself a priority… for you, for your spouse, and for your family. I know it can feel overwhelming at times, but remember it will be a gradual change, and you don’t need to change everything all at once. Every small step you take in the right direction will lead to that behaviour change that will last a lifetime!

One thing that can make all the difference as you embark on this journey is having a strong support system in place. Whether it’s your family, friends, or a community of like-minded people. Having people who encourage you, hold you accountable, and celebrate your wins can be incredibly motivating.

There will be days when you don’t feel like showing up to your training session or when the scale doesn’t feel like it’s moving. Having that support system who reminds you of your “why,” cheers you on, and helps you push through those tough days can make all the difference. They can help keep you accountable, so that when life gets busy your goals don’t get put to the back burner.

A strong support system can also help you make healthy choices in other areas of your life. Whether it’s eating better, managing stress, or getting enough sleep, having that support to build better habits will complement your physical goals.

Connecting with other like minded people who are going through similar challenges is also very beneficial.
