A common misconception that women have around lifting weights, is “lifting weight’s will make me bulky” and that is not the case. It’s important to strength train especially as you age, as both men and women naturally lose muscle mass throughout the aging process. Strength training will also increase one’s confidence, reduce the risk of chronic diseases, and all cause mortality.
The equipment may look intimating at first but your strength training journey is a gradual process, following the principles of progressive overload. This process consists of increasing the load gradually to increase the neuromuscular demand, which will facilitate further adaptations in the body. This ensures that you do not hit a plateau and that you keep progressing in your fitness journey.
