What does the number on the scale mean to you?

I know it can be tough when the scale isn’t showing the number you’re hoping for. But, remember that weight loss is just one piece of the puzzle. It’s easy to get fixated on the number, however, if you take a step back and look at the bigger picture, you’ll see all of the small wins in between that are equally as important if not more!

Maybe the small win is that you walked more that week, or you prepared food for work all week. These are the lifestyle changes that are helping you get closer towards your goals, and the number on the scale is the by product.

Ask yourself …How do you feel in your body? Are you more energized? Are activities of daily living easier, such as the stairs? These are massive victories that may not show up on the sale, yet should be celebrated.

This journey is about building better habits, feeling better, and doing something for YOU! The scale is a tool to measure your progress, but should not be the only measure.

There are serval reasons why the number on the scale might not be going down such as muscle gain, water retention, caloric intake and output, stress and sleep, and gut health. Additionally, progress is non-linear. Weight loss is rarely a straight line, as our bodies naturally fluctuate.

So be kind to yourself and be patient. Continue to build better habits and stay consistent, and you will achieve your goals! If that number on the scale ever discourages you, think of why you started in the first place. Let that be the reason why you continue to work on yourself and never give up. As that number should never dictate your success or happiness!
